PROGRAM IN CHINESE MEDICAL CHINESE

Three Sessions (ten 1 ½ hours classes per session)

with Foon-Ning Ng

This program will teach Chinese from its foundation and focus on the derivation of the characters instead of by memorization of Chinese characters. By the end of the program, all the acupuncture point names will be introduced and explained. Tools and methodologies will be introduced so when new Chinese characters are encountered you will be able to look up the meaning and pronunciation.

Focus of the Program

Topics to be discussed will include:

* Overview of the historical background of Chinese characters

* Structure of Chinese characters

* Type of strokes and stroke sequence

* Radicals (graphic elements)

* Pinyin and tones

* Some basic characters related to Yin and Yang, Five Elements, Positions,
Seasons, Metaphorical Terms, Body Parts, Channels, Points etc.

* Introduction to Tool Books and Internet Sites for Learning Chinese

* Acupuncture Points by Channels, their Pin Yin Pronunciation and Meaning

About the Instructor

Foon-Ning Ng was born in Hong Kong. Mr. Ng had a bilingual education in the high school years in Hong Kong. He came to the United States and settled in New York City since 1970. Mr. Ng has worked in the financial and IT industries for the past 30 plus years. For the last six years he has an interest in Chinese medicine. He has been a Tai Chi student of Master Jeffrey Yuen since 2003.
