GREAT CHINESE MEDICAL MASTERS SERIES

(Part I)

with Jeffrey C. Yuen

Sun Si-Miao & Early Acupuncture
Sun Si-Miao has been considered one of the most important (if not the most
important) practitioner within the history of Chinese Medicine. Known for his
tireless efforts to investigate the clinical efficacies of numerous protocols
that he studied through his various travels and encounters, Sun was able to
investigate and discern the treatments that were most effective. His
compilation of these results became highly influential in the practice of early
acupuncture. This workshop will discuss the many exciting acupuncture recipes
(often two or three points) transmitted by Sun and the relevance of these points
to understand the strategies of early acupuncture.

Saturday & Sunday, July 21st – 22nd, 2007; 10am – 5pm
$250.00 Before July 3rd. $300.00 thereafter.

Ge Hong & Alchemical Medicine
Early Chinese medicine is inseparable from the practice of alchemy – the notion
of the salvation of the ling-soul and the redemption of shen-spirit. Most
notably among these early clinicians/alchemists was Ge Hong. Inheriting the oral
and written tradition of Tai Qing Jing/Classic of Grand Purity from his
grandfather, Ge Hong was able to devise specific alchemical techniques for the
purpose of not only promoting longevity but also in the treatment of diseases –
especially those conditions afflicting the shen-spirit. This class will explore
how some of Ge Hong’s cultivation techniques can be applied toward the practice
of modern Chinese medicine in the treatment of mental illness.

Saturday & Sunday, August 18th – 19th, 2007; 10am – 5pm
$250.00 Before August 1st. $300.00 thereafter.
