August 9 - 10, 2008, Weekend Class
CHINESE MEDICAL PHYSIOGNOMY
(FACE READING)
with Jeffrey C. Yuen
According to Chinese medicine, Tian Gui (conception) is due to the exchange between
the jing - essence of the parents and the dynamic forces of the cosmos (yun qi).
These two forces provide the foundation of an individual ming yun/life and destiny.
As the jing - essence creates the physical structure of the individual,
examination of the different areas of the body can be used to determine the constitution of an individual.
One of these techniques is the art of face reading (kan xiang).
By looking at the flesh and bone of the face as expressed through its mountains (i.e., forehead, cheeks, nose, chin)
and its rivers (the sensory orifices), the potentials of a person's life is revealed.
This weekend seminar will explore the different feastures of the face from a Chinese medical perspective,
so as to evaluate the overall strengths and weaknesses of the individual's internal organs and its humors
as conveyed through yinyang and wuxing (five element) theories.
